What is a creature, mythical or real, that takes on several appearances?

The general term for this type of creature would be a shape-shifter. In Japanese legends, the raccoon is a shape-shifter. I think the fox also. Werewolves and vampires are shape-shifters (e.g., the vampire becomes a bat). The Greek gods and goddesses could change into various animals. Probably every culture has examples in its mythology.
